Meet the Artist

Michelle Krasowski is a Polish-American visual artist and storyteller based in New Jersey. I earned my BFA in Fine Art from William Paterson University, where I developed a body of work centered on superstition, coincidence, and inherited belief systems, expressed through oil painting, sculptural relief, and immersive installation.

Raised in a multigenerational household steeped in Polish traditions, I draw deeply from cultural folklore, domestic ritual, and personal memory. My art weaves narrative imagery and symbolic forms to explore fate, transformation, and the invisible forces that shape human experience.

Creative Approach

My work spans various materials and techniques, including classical oil painting, experimental textures, airbrush, sculptural reliefs, and site-specific murals. I aim to transform ordinary surfaces, walls, interiors, public spaces, into portals of story, meaning, and visual wonder.

Concept & Culture Lens

My work explores the complex relationship between superstition, fate, and memory through layered storytelling and symbolic imagery. Drawing from my Polish-American upbringing and lived experience, I investigate how inherited beliefs shape our understanding of luck, identity, and resilience.

The Series: Coincidence and Its Visual Language

My recent thesis exhibition, Coincidence, examines how intuition, myth, and inherited beliefs intersect with contemporary life. In this series, black cats stand in for misunderstood selves, spiders speak of quiet resilience, and sacred symbols reflect the coexistence of life and loss. Drawing on Catholic rituals, Polish folklore, and domestic spaces, I use oil paint, gold leaf, and mixed media to create surfaces that feel both intimate and iconic.

Material & Style

Using oil paint, gold leaf, and sculptural textures, I create surfaces that feel both intimate and iconic. Influenced by artists like Gustav Klimt, Edgar Degas, and Henry Fuseli, I aim to balance ornamentation with emotional weight, inviting viewers to reconsider what they may have once dismissed as mere coincidence.

Artistic Intent

At its core, my work is a visual record of personal mythology, rooted in vulnerability, symbolism, and the transformative power of storytelling. As I continue developing new bodies of work, I remain committed to exploring the spaces where cultural history and personal memory collide, and where the unseen becomes visible through art.
