Devotion
Oil on gold leaf 2026, 24 x 24 in
$1,400.00
"Devotion" shows a realistic human heart pierced by three arrows, set against a gold-leaf background. The heart represents love and emotional commitment, while the gold leaf suggests something precious and sacred. Together, they show how love can be both deeply valued and deeply vulnerable.
This piece came from a time of personal reflection. With Valentine’s Day approaching, Krasowski began thinking about her own experiences with love, not just romance, but the act of continuing to care even after being hurt. Rather than focusing on a single moment of heartbreak, Devotion examines patterns of emotional loyalty and endurance.
Each arrow represents a different experience of love. One passes completely through the heart, symbolizing heartbreak and the courage to love again. Another remains embedded, representing mutual emotional damage, and choosing to give despite knowing the cost. The third reflects repetition, how devotion can become a habit, something we return to again and again.
Devotion is about the strength it takes to stay open and loyal, even when love is painful. It acknowledges that devotion is not always gentle or healing, but it is persistent.
