In the painting, a young girl stands beside a towering bear while a man sits isolated across from them. The work reflects the reason many people chose the bear, not because the bear is harmless, but because its danger is predictable. Human behavior, however, can carry manipulation, violence, and emotional harm that often feels far more uncertain.
Inspired by conversations surrounding women’s safety, trauma, and vulnerability, the painting extends beyond gender alone. It speaks to anyone impacted by abuse, exploitation, fear, or the darker realities people can inflict upon one another.
